Thermoplastic Prepreg
Overview
ECC products incorporate continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic prepregs for use in lightweight structural applications. The resulting composite materials can be tailored for exceptional toughness, environmental resistance, vibration dampening, low flammability characteristics, high wear resistance and radiolucency/x-ray transparency. ECC offers a wide range of 0/90, uni-directional, and multiaxial, thermoplastic impregnated fabrics for the composite markets.
Our powder coated “semi-preg” materials are offered under our ePreg brand name. ECC ePreg thermoplastic product lines can be adapted to meet your demanding requirements. They are available in a wide range of polymer and fiber reinforcements. The following is a list of common polymer matrices and fiber reinforcements that can be combined in multiple configurations.
Thermoplastic Resins Available
- Polyamide-"Nylon" (PA12)
- Polyesters (PETG)
- Polycarbonate (PC)
- High temperature polymers (PPS, PEEK, PEKK)
- Other polymers upon request
Fiber Reinforcements Available
- Carbon Fiber
- Fiberglass (E-glass or S-2 Glass)
- Aramid Fiber (Twaron or Kevlar)
- Metal Fibers (Steel, Copper, Aluminum or Titanium)
- Basalt
- Others
ePreg thermoplastic powder coating process can be used to coat many of our ECCellent Composite Portfolio fabrics including our eFabrics, eUD, eDesign and eSpread fabrics. Our ePreg thermoplastic powder coated fabrics can be supplied in a standard roll form, or we can sheet your materials to your specified length and width. We can supply the rolls or sheets up to 2.4 meters in width (95 inches).
